The Ministry of International Trade and Industry recently revealed its National E-commerce Strategic Roadmap in this video. The roadmap aims to double e-commerce contribution to the GDP from 10.8 percent to 20.8 percent by the year 2020. It outlines 6 strategic thrust areas that include accelerating seller adoption of e-commerce, increasing adoption of e-commerce for procurement by businesses, realigning existing economic incentives, lifting non tariff barriers, making strategic investments in existing e-commerce players and establishing a national brand to promote cross border e-commerce.
