Minister in the PM’s department Nancy Shukri quells speculation that the budget slash undertaken by the government recently was aimed at funding the Sarawak state elections.
Nancy says Sarawak has a lot of money and the state government knew its responsibility in preparing for the upcoming elections.
The dissolution of the state legislative assembly takes place on April 11 paving the way for the 11th state elections expected to be held in early May.
Nancy says Sarawak focuses on the politics of development as opposed to mere politicking.
She believes Barisan Nasional has a good chance of retaining the state but the party should not underestimate the opposition’s plans in the pipeline.
